Biography

Christa Alves started surfing at just 10 years old. Her first surf board was a 6'6" ron jons funshape with a neon orange strip across it. She was a fast learner and started winning events after 2 years of hard practice. She loves the thrill of competing. She has only been surfing competitively for four years but she is already making her mark. Her being home schooled helps out this her making the impact she has. Christa Alves has won many East Coast and National Junior Championships in addition to the 2006 ASP North American Juniors Competition, and is the 2008 ASP North America Pro Junior women's champion. In 2006, she beat Katrina Perino at the Easter Surf Festival. Christa won at the Billabong Sebastian Inlet Pro earlier in the year. She will be going to Australia to compete for an ASP World Junior Championship title due to her No. 1 finish in her region. Right now Christa Alves is only surfing in certain events so she can finish up school. She is definitely looking forwarded to doing her best to qualify for the world tour and to make her mark. Her favorite beach is Coffs Harbor in Australia. Her favorite place to surf is Sebastian Inlet which is her home break. Her favorite waves are 6-8 ft glassy. Her favorite surfer is Frieda Zamba because she is a world champ from Florida. Some of her sponsors are Quiet Flight, Body Glove, Nixon, and Xt.

When Christa is not surfing, she spends her free time listening to and creating music. She played the clarinet for over 8 years and loved every minute of it. She played jazz and classical music.
