Girls Surf Team

Nowadays there are a number of surfing competitions that are held due to the increasing demand of surfers and other sportsmen. The competitions often also include sports like Windsurfing, Kite surfing, Tow-In, Body Surfing and Bodyboarding. The groups are divided by age group, expertise, sex, and their locality. The number of locals and amateurs who enter these competitions has gone up steadily because of the money that is given away as the prize.

There has also been an increase in the number of competitions exclusively for women. In April this year, the Emeralds From the Sea Surf Classic took place on Navarre Beach, FL. Later, in June, the Folly Beach Wahine Classic took place on Folly Beach, SC. It was a two-day event taking place on the 3rd and 4th.

The 10th Annual East Coast Wahine Championships will take place from August 19th to 20th on the Wrightsville Beach in NC. This will be the part of the competition for women surfers. On September 2 on Jacksonville Beach in Florida, the 8th Annual Sisters of the Sea Surf Classic will take place.

The Hurley US Open of Surfing also took place this year. It is a world qualifying event for both male and female surfers. The event was held from July 18 to July 26. The winners announced were Julia Christian in the Women's category, and Nikkita Robb in the Target Women's Junior Pro category.

The First Annual Capitola Women's Surfing Contest was held last year on October 12 at Capitola Park near the beach. This is the first women-only surfing competition to be held in Northern California. Fifty-five women participated in this event, all of whom were of different ages. The proceeds from the contest went to the Women's Crisis Support and Shelter Services and the Surfer's Alliance.
