Surfing Art by Lindsay Ahart
Living three hours away from the beach, and being an avid surfer, you have to find a way to bring surfing into your everyday life when you can't be at the beach.
I have found an outlet in doing artwork. I feel that if I can paint or enhance a surfing picture, it helps me to not miss out on being at the beach everyday like I used to.
I do different all different types of art work and media art that revolves around surfing. My favorite thing to do is use the photography that I take when I go to the beach and enhance it and play around with it using a program such as Photo Shop.
I think that it can be a lot of fun and recreate the day for me, if I take a cool picture and make it even more bright, or more edgy or completely different and more visually stimulating.
There is so much beauty in nature itself, or the art of surfing that it gives you a lot of options to play around with when you want to create an art piece.
I am also partial and enjoy seascape and surf freehand painting. When you have a blank piece of paper and paint the curl of a wave with a pink sunset, just as you see it, you will always keep that memory and that beauty with you.
It's nice when other people see your work and can connect with it on the level in which you intended. Most people that live around me in the Washington DC area don't get as much enjoyment out of my work as people that make it to the beach on a regular basis but I also think that people around here need someone that is colorful and from southern California to brighten them up. Most of my work is fun and colorful and makes people feel happy and that is a great feeling.
