Biography
Malia Jones was born into a surfing family. Her mom and her dad as well as her siblings all enjoyed surfing. She started out her surfing days riding on the front of her dads surfing board. One day when she was on her own she eventually stood up on her board. Her surfing heroes growing up were just the locals from her area in Hawaii. In 1992, she was the girls division winner of the United States Surfing Championships. In 1993, she competed briefly on the world tour. In more recent years, she got a sponsorship with Billabong USA to be a representative for them along with Layne Bleachly, Belen Connelly, Cara Hemperley, and pro skateboarder Jesse Van Roechoudt. She still surfs as much as possible even though her focused has shifted more towards modeling since she won the US Amateur championship.
She has done a lot of professional modeling since her surfing days. She as initially signed by 'Surfer Magazine.' This appearance in 'Surfer Magazine' led Malia to getting a lot more modeling jobs. She has appeared in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, People, Maxim and Shape magazine as well as many others. She was named one of the most beautiful people in the world in 1998 by people magazine. She was also named one of the sexiest athletes in the world in Esquire magazine. She was also a consultant for the Disney Movie 'Lilo & Stich.' Malia loves the opportunity surfing and modeling has given her to travel all over the world. She feels that her surfing and modeling balance each other out. One of her favorite places to surf is France and the strangest place she has surfed is Maldives near India.
