Biography

In 1989, Serena Brooke's older sister taught her how to surf. While she was an amateur, she won the Queensland title as well as the national Australian title. Just 6 years later, Serena was world tour rookie of the year in 1995 when she graduated high school. In 1995, she finished the season ranked 13 in the world. In 1996, she finished the season ranked 10th in the world. Serena finished the season ranked number 9 in 1997 which included her reaching the semifinals at the Tokushima Pro and a seventh in the Quiksilver Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach, Hawaii. She finished top five in each of her first five years on the tour. This is including two runner-up finishes to Layne Beachley in 1998 and 1999 in which she was the number 2 surfer in the world. In 2001, she has a temporary number 1 ranking. This same year she starred in a surf documentary called '7 Girls.' She ended up taking a two year break from surfing in 2003 due to injuries. In 2005, Serena made the final at the SPC Fruit Pro at Bells Beach and the semis at the Roxy Pro Haleiwa. She finished the 2005 season number 12. She is sponsored by Bud light, Crocs, GO211, Mazda. Her favorite place to surf is Indonesia, France, Mexico and Peru.

Some of her other favorite things to do are snowboard, skydive, mountain bike, motorbike, skateboard, tennis, fun photo shoots, trying fun new sports and adventures. She believes all these activities help her to be an even better suffer so she can have strength and endurance. On the side, she also runs a charitable foundation. This foundation raises money to help support domestic abuse victims, breast cancer research and many other things.
