Surf Girls Calendar

The Surf Girls calendar features photographs of twelve different surfer girls in their element. The calendar is photographed by a different photographer each year. The photographer is choosen for their exceptional work in the field of water sports and has make it a passion to record the water sports. Many times this calendar is shot in Maui.

The athletes of Maui are world renown and the surfer girls especially are known for their daring nature when they are riding the waves on the ocean. Maui girls spend their adolescence among the waves and on the beach. It is the rare Maui that grows up not knowing how to surf. Most of them are outstanding surfers even while they are young.

A large number of women surfers come from this area of Hawaii and go on to become successful professionals. The women here are encouraged to take up the sport even before they are born into the world. Many pregnant women still surf until their last weeks of pregnancy. They believe that this makes the child develop a close connection with the ocean and with the sport of surfing.

Unlike many women's calendars, which mostly revolve around models for large clothing or underwear lines, the calendar features women athletes. The reverence and inspiration that is derived from looking at these photographs does not come close to what one feels looking at other women's calendars.

The stapled calendar is 12" x 24" when opened and 12" x 12" when closed. It is published by Sellers Publishing 2009. It is a beautiful piece of work that documents modern women's surfing in its most graceful form.
