If you are somebody who is more into reality shows then you might have heard about the Surf Girls show on MTV. It was basically a reality TV show that was telecast in the period from 12th May, 2003 to 7th July, 2003. Surf Girls had 14 participants who were surfing enthusiasts themselves. These girls contested with each other for winning an opportunity to become professional surfers. The winner had the privilege to get an entry into the Roxy Fiji Pro Championship.

This position is like a wild card in the World Championship Tour (WCT) for Surfing. Did you know that only sixteen selected female surfers can participate in the WCT? That is why this slot is the most coveted as the only other option to gain an entry in the championship is by getting listed in the best five surfers in the world, which is as difficult. The participants came from varied backgrounds and were in the age group of 18- 24. These Surf Girls team had college students, waitresses, flight stewardesses, high school students and so on.

What was the format of the Surf Girls show?

Since it was a reality show, a minimum of one surfer was disqualified in each episode. These female surfers were scheduled to get trained, tour across the globe and even live in each other's company in a surfer campsite while they vied for that one entry in the championship. Their journey began from Australia that extended to Tahiti, Samoa and Hawaii. During this period these surfers interacted with expert surfing trainers who prepared them for the contest.

These Surf Girls were ranked on their surfing skills majorly while body fitness evaluation done each week and an optimistic approach were given equal importance. Their surfing style was examined as well. Overall, it was an interesting show to watch.
