More Shortboard Fins: 1 2

Short board fins are also used for the same purpose as they are in long boards - of preventing the board from sliding sideways in the water. Short board fins were also of the fixed variety in the early stages. Then when removable fins were invented, short board fins were also available in the removable versions. Short boards were basically designed to help surfers achieve greater maneuverability with their boards. In fact, with the higher maneuverability characteristics of the short board, the fin becomes a more important addition in the short board than it is in the traditional long board. Fins come in different shapes and sizes, which further alter the characteristics of the board. Some fins come as a single unit, while others come in a group of three and sometimes even five fins.
